A Haunting Half-Term at New Forest Wildlife Park with Spooky Species
4th Oct 2024
New Forest Wildlife Park invites families and wildlife enthusiasts to Spooky Species, a half-term event that will shine a light on a topic much scarier than ghosts and ghouls - the extinction of wildlife species and the urgent need for conservation.
With conservation at the heart of the family-owned wildlife park, Spooky Species brings the theme of extinction to life with interactive and educational activities that will encourage visitors to learn more about the shocking number of species facing extinction and how everyone can play their part in saving them.
Each day there will be a Spooky Species Stop around the park where visitors will find our education team. At these stops visitors can find incredible facts about these species, learn about conservation efforts to help them and get hands on with enrichment or animal artifacts!
There’s creative fun too with Creepy Crafts and a Pumpkin Design competition, for a small additional cost. Get hands-on and create a spooky species mask or make a pine cone animal before heading to the Nightwatch Barn to take a photo with the spooky props! Visitors can pick up a competition sheet and create the best design for a pumpkin. The keepers will choose three winners and then carve the designs into pumpkins for the animals to enjoy.
Spooky Species highlights the importance of conservation projects such as the Scottish wildcat breeding programme, the European bison captive breeding programme, the rehabilitation of native species and many more that the New Forest Wildlife Park is actively involved in.
The event takes place from the 26th of October to the 3rd of November from 10.30 am - 4.30 pm. There is a small charge for some activities, for more information and tickets visit www.newforestwildlifepark.co.uk/whats-on/events/spooky-species
